Little drum major gets big cheer at fourth annual Rocket City Marching Band Exhibition Sunday (video)

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Sunday afternoon at Alabama A&M’s Louis Crews football stadium, a pint-size drum major stole the show, a Huntsville woman won a 2003 refurbished Cadillac, and temperatures soared into the mid-80s on the first day of April during the fourth annual Rocket City Marching Band Exhibition.

No fooling!

"I sure hope this is not a joke," said Shelia Hunter, who said she was giving the car to her 16-year-old daughter Essence Hunter.

Hunter won the car on April Fool’s Day in the Hooptie Giveaway sponsored by HOT 103-FM radio station during the fundraising event for the Johnson High School band. It was donated by Yes You Can Auto and refurbished by Colors Unlimited, A&A Used Tires and Dr. Eddie’s Stereo Outlet.

While eight bands, including Johnson and Lee high schools of Huntsville, performed for the record crowd of more than 4,000, one band member in particular stood out - Cameron Reed.
