Oak Cliff: Members getting an early start at Ewell Townview
School officially starts in two days for area youngsters.

But Ray Marfil and the rest of the musicians at Oak Cliff’s Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center have been getting a head start on their studies for the past two weeks.

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. Some members of the Connellsville Marching Band were sickened after they ate cookies apparently laced with laxatives.
Practice came to a halt on Thursday when students became ill.

FAMU Marching 100 ‘band mother’ dies

Mary Ann Foster was known as the “band mother.”
Her husband, William P. Foster, created Florida A&M University’s famous Marching 100.
Mary Ann Foster, who worked for the university for more than 40 years, died Friday. She was 85.
