Mimicking Michael Jackson’s fashion sense?

Trying to re-enact the “Sgt. Pepper’s” album cover?

Or maybe you’re just pining for the good old days, marching along with the Chaska High School band.

Now’s your chance to get a piece of history – circa 1978. That was when the school district purchased 150 purple band uniforms, all emblazed with “Chaska.”

Most of the uniforms would remain the district’s closet until last year, when a new set of uniforms was purchased to augment a rejuvenated marching band program. Read more

We would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all Jukes who has attended the Annual S.U. Band Picnic in the past. This year we would like to get more of the younger Jukes invovled. We all know that there are alot of legends in their own right, that have attened S.U. or that are in the making at S.U. We the commity of the S.U. Band Picnic would like for all of the younger Jukes to come out an meet the older legends; so that you won’t just be able to talk about who did what in whatever year but, be able to put names with faces. We think that it is very important that we close this generational gap with our younger brothers and yes sisters. Read more

BallouI wish I could get you the direct quote, but it’s lost somewhere, on a scrap of paper, amid the clutter of my “Reporter’s Car” — which, as a former newspaper writer, I can tell you is not half as bad as that other journalistic icon: the “Photog’s Car.” (You know the expression: “Don’t go there?” Well, we’re talking literally.)

What was it that I just had to write down as I listened to the Kojo Nnamdi radio show on WAMU in Washington, D.C.? It was a quote from Darrell Watson, music director of the Ballou Senior High School Band — the “Majestic Marching Knights” — whom Nnamdi was interviewing on a segment about a new documentary film called simply “Ballou.”
