The Alabama A&M University Marching Maroon and White has been selected as one of six HBCU bands to perform at the 2025 Honda Battle of the Bands, set to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This week, the AAMU band secured its spot by accepting a challenge invitation from the North Carolina A&T State University marching band. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025.
For over twenty years, the Honda Battle of the Bands has provided a premier platform for showcasing the nation’s top HBCU marching bands. The selection process for the 2025 event is being conducted in three phases. Last month, a committee appointed by Honda chose two HBCU bands, each of which was then given the opportunity to challenge another HBCU band to a musical face-off in Inglewood.
The bands confirmed for the 2025 lineup include Alabama A&M University Marching Maroon and White, North Carolina A&T State University Blue and Gold Marching Machine, Southern University Human Jukebox, and the Alabama State University band. The final two bands will be determined through fan voting, which is open until August 15 at www.hondabattleofthebands.com.
Honda made a commitment in 2003 to highlight the heart-stopping musical talent of HBCU marching bands. Since then, Honda Battle of the Bands has served as the blueprint for showcasing one of the most recognizable and celebrated examples of HBCU culture and tradition to the rest of the world.
